WebinarWebinar | The Hidden Side of Cryptocurrency and Money Laundering
On January 21, 2025, the SEC announced the creation of a cryptocurrency task force to develop a regulatory framework for digital assets. By their very nature, cryptocurrencies have long been linked to a range of predicate offenses, from fraud and drug trafficking to the distribution of CSAM and the facilitation of illicit transactions—both online and offline. As digital assets continue to evolve, so do the methods cybercriminals use to exploit them. Whether it’s through dark web marketplaces, ransomware payouts, or financial fraud, criminals must eventually find ways to launder their gains and convert them into usable funds.
Money laundering remains one of the most prevalent criminal activities associated with cryptocurrencies, and bad actors are constantly refining their tactics to evade detection. But how exactly do they do it? What sophisticated obfuscation techniques and laundering services are they leveraging to cover their tracks?
In this webinar, we’ll take a deep dive into the latest tactics cybercriminals use to wash dirty crypto. More importantly, we’ll explore how LEAs alongside intelligence and security organizations, as well as private sector entities, can leverage advanced OSINT techniques to trace illicit funds across multiple wallets.
By understanding these laundering methods, investigators can turn the tide against cybercriminals, identifying hidden patterns and uncovering entire networks involved in financial crime.
